Staff, patients, families and members of the local community came together on Monday 19th October 2026 to celebrate #CrazySockDay in support of Paediatric Bone and Joint Action Day, raising an incredible £251 for the Royal Orthopaedic Charity (ROC).
A special thank you goes to Bournville Village Primary School for, not only supporting #CrazySockDay, but for their continued support of ROC over the years. Pupils and staff enthusiastically took part by wearing their craziest and most colourful socks. Each participant donated £1 to support the cause, helping to raise awareness of bone and joint conditions that affect children and young people.
The Children and Young People’s Outpatients Team at The ROH also embraced the initiative, helping to share the campaign with patients attending clinic throughout the day. We are incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm and support in bringing the event to life.
The fantastic total raised will go directly towards supporting the Children and Young People’s Team at The ROH, helping to enhance the experience, wellbeing and care of young patients and their families.
Every year, thousands of children and young people require specialist care for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
These can include:
– Scoliosis (curvature of the spine)
– Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)
– Clubfoot
– Limb length discrepancies
– Bone and joint injuries and fractures
– Juvenile arthritis
– Bone tumours and musculoskeletal cancers
– Congenital bone and joint conditions
– Foot and ankle deformities
– Complex spinal conditions and disorders
Many of these conditions require ongoing specialist treatment, rehabilitation and support throughout childhood and adolescence. The ROH provides expert care through a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and allied health professionals, helping children achieve the best possible outcomes and quality of life. The hospital also works closely with other healthcare partners to ensure young patients receive seamless, child-centred care in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Events such as #CrazySockDay not only raise vital funds but also help shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by children living with bone and joint conditions.
The generosity shown by hospital staff, local schools and the wider community will make a real difference to young patients receiving care at The ROH.
On behalf of ROC, thank you to everyone who wore their crazy socks, made a donation and helped raise awareness of this great cause.
