Inspirational Cancer patient raises £700 for ROH!

Bethan Evans
Bethan and her older sister celebrating her remission date on the 11th January 2018 after 5 years off chemo.

This winter a long term patient Bethan has been hard at work raising money for the ROH. This young patient was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a primary bone cancer over 5 years ago. Bethan celebrated the start of her bone cancer remission on the 11th of January 2018 by holding a remission party for 60 children who all paid £1 to dress up, eat cake and have a games afternoon.  To raise money for the ROH Charity, Bethan’s family have been in full swing hosting various events from a pub quiz to a Christmas fayre.

The works of our miraculous surgeons and nurses here at the ROH have helped to save this little girl’s life. And in return Bethan and her family have raised a whopping £25,000 for hospital charities in the UK.  They are a true inspiration and we are forever thankful.

“Seeing our daughter fight and survive bone cancer has changed us forever….we will never forget!” Lynne Evans

Lynne – Bethan’s mum states she has been beyond impressed with the care and emotional support given from all staff on Ward 11 including our own Macmillan Nurses and Jane Forsythe our Sarcoma Specialist. Not forgetting our amazing oncology specialist Professor Abudu.

“Professor Abudu is someone we trust implicitly and who has been fully involved with Bethan’s care from the onset and who takes a genuine interest in her life and interests. Huge Thanks” Lynne Evans

After 5 years of appointments, consultations and operations we are pleased to say Bethan is now in Remission! We wish her the very best for the future.

Here at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital we carry out life-changing surgery every day and it’s fantastic to see the difference it makes.
